Role of Functional Assessment

A functional assessment identifies the areas of daily living where essential skills need to be developed or restored.

Functional assessment:

• Identifies the symptoms of the mental illness
• Describes how functioning is impacted

Assessing function outlines how the recipient’s illness is interfering with their functioning and their ability to achieve their best possible functional level.
