Permanent Supportive Housing
Housing is a basic need that supports and facilitates a person’s health, mental health, and recovery. Persons with serious mental illnesses often have difficulty accessing affordable housing.
Permanent Supportive Housing is decent, safe, and affordable community-based housing that provides tenants with the rights of tenancy under state and local landlord tenant laws and is linked to voluntary and flexible support and services designed to meet tenants’ needs and preferences. Permanent Supportive Housing provides sufficient wraparound supports to allow people with significant support needs to remain in the housing they have chosen.
Minnesota is one of only a few states that include a housing mission statement in its Minnesota Comprehensive Adult Mental Health Act.
