DHS vision

Minnesota Department of Human Services

DHS works with many others to help people meet their basic needs. Our shared goal is to provide supports so people can live with dignity and achieve their highest potential. One of the priorities of DHS is to improve home and community based services for people over 65 and people with disabilities.

The areas of DHS that focuses on the importance of helping people live where they choose, with services that support their health and safety are the Continuing Care Administration (CCA) and the Community Supports Administration (CSA).

The Aging and Adult Services Division (AASD)

The Aging and Adult Services Division manages publicly-funded programs to support people who are over 65.

The mission of the Aging and Adult Services Division (AAS) is to help older Minnesotans or seniors find the resources they need to manage their lives as independently as possible and live in their own homes and communities for as long as possible.

The Disability Services Division (DSD)

The Disability Services Division (DSD) is part of the Community Supports Administration (CSA) in the Minnesota Department of Human Services. DSD manages publicly-funded programs that support people with a variety of disabilities, including:

The goals of DSD and AAS support the philosophy that community-based services help to promote a person’s self-sufficiency. These goals also help people and families maintain the highest level of independence within their community.
