The US Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has the authority to exclude individuals and entities from Federally funded health care programs. Crimes that require mandatory exclusions include (but are not limited to): conviction of program-related crimes, conviction relating to patient abuse, felony conviction relating to health care fraud. An exhaustive list of crimes that require mandatory exclusions can be found in sections 1128 and 1156 of the Social Security Act.
