Premium Changes
Once the premium (sliding fee and UIO) has been paid and the case is approved, the premium amount cannot increase during the six month income certification period. It can, however, decrease. In addition, premium amounts cannot be changed for months that have already been billed.
There are several situations in which a premium amount could change. Click on the numbers below to view these situations.

Client reports an increase in household size. Send a SIR webmail to "DHS.MADE@state.mn.us" with a subject of "MA-EPD Premium Change," if the addition of a household member changes a MA-EPD enrollee's premium.
Change in income guidelines (annual increase of FPG standards or change in law).
At the time of the annual COLA increase.
FYI: DHS is notified annually of the COLA increase for clients who receive benefits from SSA. If there is no increase in SSA benefits at the beginning of the year, DHS will provide directions on how to process cases that have these benefits.
Client reports a decrease in household size. The premium may be reimbursed or client may become eligible for Medicare Part B reimbursement.
