Intermediate Care Facility for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (ICF/DD)

An ICF/DD is a residential facility licensed as a health care institution and certified by the Minnesota Department of Health to provide health or rehabilitative services for persons with developmental disabilities or a related condition who require active treatment.

In order to be admitted to an ICF/DD a person must:

• Be determined to have developmental disabilities or related conditions.
• Have substantial limitations in intellectual functioning as well as be deficient in adaptive behavior.
• Manifest their condition before age 22.
• Require a 24-hour care plan.

Services provided in an ICF/DD include:

• Continuous active treatment programs.
• Opportunities to participate in the community.
• Functional skill development with the goal of reducing dependency on care providers.
• Opportunities for use of decision-making skills.
