Person-Centered Principles

Participants supported by Housing Access Coordination (HAC) seek housing based on their person-centered plans. Person-centered principles and ways of thinking provide a foundation for all housing plans.

Person-centeredness focuses on four main principles:

• Relationships – valuing the uniqueness of each person.
• Compassion – caring to build a connection with people and wanting the best for them.
• Empowerment – providing information and options for people and their supporters.
• Choice – respecting the right of individuals to make their own choices.
