The I-94 is issued to almost all noncitizens upon entry into the U.S., and gives the person's name, date of birth, country of citizenship, noncitizen status, and how long they may legally remain in the U.S.
The I-94 also indicates the immigration category or the section of the law under which the person is granted admission.

When viewing the codes in the USCIS list, keep the following in mind. The first column on the left can be ignored because it lists the codes (sorted alphanumerically) for internal use at the USCIS office. The second column from the left lists the codes used on the various documents that clients must provide and the far right column is the description of those codes.
