Remember, you apply basic MA household size rules for the month in which a client began receiving LTC services in a facility and follow MA-LTC household size rules for the following month when a person is requesting MA-LTC due to residence in an LTCF and does not have a community spouse.

2. What is Emily’s Medicare Savings Program (MSP) household size for last month and for the current month?

Emily has an MSP household size of 1 for both last month and the current month based on applying the same rules as we used to determine Emily’s MA-LTC household size. .

Last Month: She has a household size of 1 based on basic MA household size rules, because it is the month she began receiving LTC services in a facility and she does not have a community spouse.

Current Month: She has a household size of 1 because it is the month after she began receiving LTC services in a facility and she does not have a community spouse.
