Asset Limit Exemptions
The following people are exempt from the asset limit:
- Children under age 21, through the month of their 21st birthday.
- Parents and caretaker relatives.
- Pregnant women, regardless of age, through the end of the 60-day postpartum period.
- Adults without children with income less than 138% FPG who are eligible for MA under the 'AX' adults without children basis.
- Women eligible for MA for Breast/Cervical Cancer (MA-BC).
- People eligible for automatic MA with MSA, RCA, or IV-E Foster Care placements.
- Former foster children under age 26.
Handout, MA-LTC Clients Exempt from Asset Limits, has more information on MA-LTC requirements which are not required for those MA-LTC enrollees who are exempt from asset limits. This handout contains information that you will learn in detail in upcoming modules and courses, such as Asset Assessments, MA-LTC Transfers and MA-LTC Systems. But for now, this handout provides information you will need to know in regards to MA-LTC requirements that must be met for those persons who are exempt from asset limits.
