VA Housebound Benefit

Veterans who are more seriously disabled may qualify for the VA Housebound Benefit in addition to the Basic VA pension rate.   This cash benefit provides assistance to veterans who are confined to his or her immediate premises, or has multiple disabilities.

This benefit is also available to the surviving spouse or child of a veteran when a Death Benefit has been approved, and that person is confined to his or her immediate premises.

Be sure to refer an MA-LTC client who is confined to his or her immediate premises to the VA, when a Basic VA Pension or VA Death benefit is received, requiring them to apply for the VA Housebound Benefit.  A client must cooperate with the referral to continue MA-LTC eligibility.
