Total Monthly Income

Total the gross income of the family member living with the community spouse. 

• Do not include excluded income.

• Determine a monthly income amount when a family member receives income less often than monthly.  To determine the monthly income amount, total income the family member receives in a year and divide by 12.

• Do not allow MA disregards or deductions.

• Do not require a family member to report income monthly. Calculate each family allocation at the initial request for MA-LTC. Recalculate it at the annual renewal and when a change is reported. Verify income changes.

• Do not count VA Aid and Attendance as income unless it is apportioned specifically for the minor children.
