Children’s Mental Health Screening

Exploring Minnesota Statute 245.4874 subdivision 14

History

Each year, the Children’s Mental Health (CMH) division is allocated grant dollars to distribute across Minnesota’s counties and tribes based on the number of mental health screenings conducted and documented in the appropriate state reporting system. In 2024, a total of $4,412,000 was available in the Children’s Mental Health Screening fund. With 7,030 youth screened statewide, this equated to approximately $627.44 per screen. These funds are intended to support the cost of administering screenings and to provide ongoing mental health services for uninsured and underinsured youth.

Children’s Mental Health screening numbers are directly tied to County Performance Standards, Department of Corrections expectations, and the allocation of grant dollars.
