Administering the Screen

After administering the screening tool, a worker needs to give feedback about what the screen says to the youth and family.  Computerized screening tools like the CNS Vital Signs PSC, the SDQ, MAYSI-WARE and Powertrain’s POSIT provide helpful feedback forms that can be handed to parents with information on referrals.

A helpful template for discussing results is:

It looks like you have some concerns about your child’s social emotional development (talk about specific items). Would you like help finding some referrals to address your concerns? (talk about referral possibilities-Part C, MH professional, Medical professional, parenting support, etc.)…
