Another finding from the Surgeon General’s Report notes striking disparities for minorities in mental health services and the underlying knowledge base.  These findings include:

  • Racial and ethnic minorities have less access to mental health services than do whites defined as non-Hispanic white Americans.
  • Racial and ethnic minorities are less likely to received needed care.
  • When Racial and ethnic minorities receive care, it is more likely to be of poor quality.
