Minnesota public mental health system services
Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) describes a 16 bed, 24 hour intensive treatment setting. It is designed for persons with a serious mental illness. These recipients can either be diverted from inpatient psychiatric care or require a 24 hour setting, following discharge from crisis services or acute care settings.
Treatment is provided in the setting and is short term. The goal is to transition the person to an independent community-based setting with services.
