Level of Care Utilization System (LOCUS)
Level of care assessments benefit clients by assuring they receive mental health services necessary for recovery from their mental illness. The Level of Care Utilization System (LOCUS) addresses:
- settings for delivering services
- intensity of the services and
- the modality for delivering services.
The LOCUS instrument is for adult mental health services. It is not intended for use in determining mental health services for children.
For adult MH-TCM services, it will be used for the purpose of helping to determine appropriate referrals to services. For the other services listed it will be a part of the actual eligibility determination for that service.
The LOCUS is a level of care instrument developed by the American Association of Community Psychiatrists with no charge to the users.
