Welcome to Serving People with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) and Dementia online training.
This online training contains a wealth of information to help case managers and certified assessors understand the impact that dementia has on those who have I/DD and what is different for this population, how to best support the person, their families and caregivers, as well as what the best practices are today.
This course focuses on the unique needs, issues and experiences of individuals who:
- Have intellectual or developmental disabilities.
- Are exhibiting symptoms of dementia.
- May or may not be using resources or be receiving support.
Please note: Throughout this course the term “dementia” is used to refer to Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders such as Vascular Dementia, Frontal Temporal Dementia, Lewy Bodies and others. When a diagnosis is made, the individual receives a diagnosis of the type of dementia that they have.
