Method 2 Example

Meredith is requesting MA and MA-LTC today. Her husband, Derik, purchased an immediate annuity one year ago. He receives $300 each month.

Evaluate Derik’s annuity using Method 2. Derik’s annuity does not meet the Method 1 conditions because Derik, rather than Meredith, is the payee. The annuity was annuitized at the time of purchase (because it is an immediate annuity) and the purchase date is within Meredith’s lookback period.
