In the MA-LTC Basics course you learned that having a community spouse impacts several areas in regard to the income calculation for an MA-LTC client residing in an LTCF or requesting services through the EW. Community spouse income is not deemed to the LTC spouse.

A community spouse does impact the following:

The type of income calculation you will use for certain Elderly Waiver clients (Community vs. LTC).

When to begin and end using an LTC income calculation.

Whether certain deductions are allowed in the LTC income calculation.
