Review the document on recognizing the four stages of burnout. Then if needed, apply the following recommendations:

  • Take action to deal with your burnout.
  • It’s okay to say you are having a difficult time.
  • Talk to your supervisor and/or team for assistance.
  • Take mini time-outs, such as taking the afternoon off or longer vacations.
  • Cultivate pleasurable activities and hobbies that will offer you balance and peace.
  • Develop a positive, nurturing support system.
  • Set limits for yourself and others.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Do not ignore burnout symptoms. Do something about them.
