MN SNAP

SSI as overarching funding with MSA as a supplement to it.

The federal nutrition support program makes food available to lower income people at reduced prices.

In Minnesota, this program is called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Individuals may:

  • Get food support if they meet program income guidelines and provide or apply for a Social Security number.
  • Use food support to purchase basic food items at most grocery stores.
  • Apply for food support at the county social services office.
