Navigating MMIS is simple once you know the tools to use. Use of the mouse to navigate the internet is quick and easy. Use of the mouse to navigate MMIS is limited. MMIS is a database and most navigation is done using keyboard keys.

Keyboard Keys

  • Keyboard keys are used to navigate SCREEN TO SCREEN and FIELD TO FIELD in MMIS.
  • Navigation settings described in this course are the STANDARD DESKTOP CONFIGURATION default settings.
  • Keyboard configuration on laptop computers may differ slightly from default settings.
  • Keyboard keys are PROGRAMMABLE in MMIS and the keyboard you use may have been reprogrammed by a previous user. It is recommended that you contact your MMIS liaison before making changes to keyboard programming.

Programmable Function Keys

  • FUNCTION KEYS (also called Programmable Function Keys) perform a variety of navigational functions in MMIS.
  • Function Keys are located at the top of most keyboards and are labeled F1 through F12.
  • Function Keys are also displayed at the bottom of most MMIS screens and are labeled PF1 through PF12.
