MMIS KEY PANELS
A KEY panel is the first screen in each application. Key panels are used to enter search criteria. The fields on a key panel vary depending on the application. To navigate to a key panel worker begins by selecting an application from the MAIN menu.
Review of how to navigate to a MMIS key panel from MMIS MAIN MENU
From the MMIS MAIN MENU
- Type X in front of the desired application to select it. In this example RECIPIENT FILE APPLICATION is selected.
- TRANSMIT to the key panel of application selected. In this example MMIS advanced to the MMIS RECIPIENT KEY PANEL - RKEY.

MMIS field navigation within key panels
- The ACTION CODE field tells MMIS what worker wants to do.
- INQUIRY is view only mode. Worker may view data but cannot update or change data. In this course we will learn about how to view information in RECIPIENT FILE APPLICATION.
- CHANGE mode is used to make updates to a document in MMIS.
- ADD mode is used to create a new document in MMIS.
- The security group used to access MMIS defines for each application what level of access (inquire, change or add) is allowed.
- The remaining key panel fields are available for entry in all modes to facilitate access to application.
- Completion of fields on key panels varies and will be looked at in more detail later in this course.
- TAB to advance to the next available field. Tab returns cursor to first available field after last available field.
- SHIFT-TAB to return to the previous field.
- After entry of a valid value in a field MMIS automatically advances cursor to next available field for entry.
- Valid values specify codes or type of entry. ACTION CODE is a good example. After entry of an action code in the ACTION CODE field MMIS advances to the next available field which is the RECIPIENT ID field.
- After entry of text, such as RECIP LAST NAME, worker must TAB to next available field.
- TRANSMIT to advance to the next MMIS screen.
Before we leave the KEY panel there is one more navigation technique to review.
