Employment Authorization Documents (EAD) are issued to immigrants who are not permanent residents but have been granted permission to work in the U.S. The employment authorization card gives the person’s immigration status only.

Although there have been numerous versions of the EAD, only two versions are currently in circulation. Both EAD cards will be issued and remain valid until the expiration date.
