Obligation

Clients with a waiver obligation are responsible to pay for their LTC waiver services up to the amount of the waiver obligation. MA covers the cost of LTC services that exceed the waiver obligation and any other health care expenses covered by basic MA. Other health care expenses are not used to meet the waiver obligation.

Lola, who is SIS-EW, has a waiver obligation of $700. She incurred a $300 clinic visit expense in the same month in which the cost of her LTC services received through EW was $950.

Lola is responsible for the waiver obligation amount of $700. MA will cover the $250 in additional LTC services and the clinic visit expense.
