Long-Term Care Partnership

Step 3 – MMIS TPL Entry

Complete Step 3, entering the LTC insurance policy into the MMIS TPL Subsystem, when the client either meets all eligibility criteria for MA-LTC or meets all eligibility criteria but has a transfer penalty. In both of these situations the client is eligible for basic MA and that eligibility should be approved. All health care coverage available to a client must be entered into MMIS TPL when a person is eligible for a health care program.

The coverage type codes to use on the TPOL screen are found on your handout. Use coverage code “27” if you are unsure of the coverage type. If later you discover that the coverage type is incorrect, you must request the DHS Benefit Recovery Section (BRS) to update the code. We’ll talk again about BRS and how to contact them later in this process.
