Enhancing Consumer Services
When determining how and whether to prioritize specific areas of functioning, it is important to balance whether the consumer wants to improve their status and functioning in a particular domain or group of domains and whether the difficulties with status and functioning put the consumer at risk in terms of health and safety.
For example, if a consumer collects and keeps many things in their home, does not want to stop collecting and chooses not to get rid of their collection- this is their choice. However, it is a priority, if the collecting is putting them at risk for loss of home, possible legal issues, and danger of health and safety. It is imperative that status and functional description
related to collecting be documented in nonjudgmental terms.
