Another way that ownership of goals and objectives is demonstrated is the clear evidence of the person’s voice in the writing of them.
Whenever possible, service providers are encouraged to incorporate the individual’s own words in developing goals and objectives. At times, staff may need to assist clients in formulating goals and objectives that are appropriate to the service setting- please note the comments on medical necessity in the next section.
Using motivation interviewing tools and techniques can be a most effective way of generating goals and objectives.
