Principles of Case Management Services
Case managers apply the following principles when conducting case management activities: Normalization, self-determination, informed choice, community integration and inclusion and protection of individuals served.
Normalization
Normalization is living one's life as close as possible to the regular circumstances and patterns of life lived by others in society. Normalization respects an individual's:
- Adult responsibilities and expectations, including employment and contribution to communities.
- Age-appropriate interactions, environments, opportunities, activities and possessions.
- Privacy in personal care, personal information and to associate with friends and family.
