Section Overview

LTC services are paid through a variety of sources. Each source’s coverage may be different and may depend on the client’s living arrangement, medical need and other factors. Sources of payment include:

• LTC coverage.

  You must review LTC coverage to determine if the policy is a qualified Partnership policy. Information about this process can be found in the Long-Term Care Partnership course.

• Other health care coverage.

  Some private health insurance plans cover long-term care services as well as basic health care services.

• Medicare.
• Medical Assistance.
• Private payment.

Cooperation to obtain third party coverage of expenses is a requirement of MA and MA-LTC.
