Annuity Transaction Activity

It’s time to put what you have learned into action! Read each of the scenarios found on the Annuity Transaction Activity (PDF) handout and answer the questions.

Question 1.

Juan’s purchase of the annuity on June 12, 2011, is not an MA-LTC annuity transaction that requires evaluation of the annuity. Although the purchase of an annuity is a qualified action, that action did not occur within Juan’s 60-month lookback period.

Question 2.

The annuitization of Roger’s annuity is an MA-LTC annuity transaction. Annuitizing an annuity is a qualified action. That qualified action took place within the 60-month lookback period. Evaluation of the annuity is required.

Question 3.

Requesting removal of a beneficiary because the beneficiary has died is not a qualified action. An MA-LTC annuity transaction did not occur.

Question 4.

The beneficiary change which Crystal made to the annuity is an MA-LTC annuity transaction because the change, which is a qualified action, occurred while Crystal is an MA enrollee.

Question 5.

Annabella’s purchase of an annuity is an MA-LTC annuity transaction because it is a qualified action that took place within her 60-month lookback period.
