Documenting Evidence-Based Practices (EBP)

For purposes of supporting MA billing, documentation for evidence-based practices is identical to any intervention.

MA makes no distinctions or exceptions for SAMHSA designated programs.

However, for fidelity, research or educational purposes, staff delivering evidence-based practices may want or need to document additional information.  

When this occurs, be sure to cleanly document the MA reimbursed service and add the supplemental information to it as an addendum or postscript. 

Information from data collection that focuses primarily on staff activities can be kept separately from the recipient record.
