LTCF Residence

The household size for a person residing in an LTCF depends on whether the client has a community spouse.

No Community Spouse.
For clients residing in an LTCF who do not have a community spouse, use a household size of one beginning in the month following the month of entry into an LTCF when determining MA-LTC and MSP eligibility.
Follow basic MA household size policy for the months prior to and the month of admission into an LTCF when determining MA-LTC and MSP eligibility. Count the client in the household size for other household members when determining their eligibility.

Example.

Community Spouse.
For clients residing in an LTCF who do have a community spouse use a household size of one beginning in the month the client enters the LTCF when determining MA-LTC eligibility.
Follow basic MA household size policy for the month of entry into an LTCF and all months prior when determining MSP eligibility and count the client in the household size for other household members.
