Medical Spenddown

All MA-LTC clients who use a community income calculation and who have a monthly net income greater than the MA income standard use a monthly medical spenddown.

What MA-LTC clients use an MA Method B community income calculation? 

People requesting LTC services through one of the home and community-based disability waivers (CAC, CADI, DD and BI).

A person requesting LTC services through the Elderly Waiver (EW) who does not have a community spouse and whose income is greater than the Special Income Standard (SIS).

Note: When a person is also eligible for MA-EPD, follow MA-EPD rules to determine the premium amount.
