MA-LTC Spenddowns and Waiver Obligations

Waiver Obligation

SIS-EW clients, with income remaining after completing an LTC income calculation, have a waiver obligation. A client contributes (or pays) for the cost of his or her LTC services up to the waiver obligation amount. The waiver obligation amount is the client’s income remaining after deductions and allowances.

Who is SIS-EW?

MMIS Note:  You must still complete an MMIS RSPD span when a client has a waiver obligation of $0. The “original spenddown amount” is the income amount from the EWWO panel of MAXIS Health Care ELIG and the “recipient amount” is $0. You’ll learn more about this in the MA-LTC Systems classroom course.
