Do not wait for the requested items to be returned before proceeding to Step 2!

When the client meets all MA-LTC eligibility criteria, including having total assets less than or equal to the asset limit, MA-LTC can be approved. The client may choose to continue with the LTCP protection process.

When the client meets all MA-LTC eligibility criteria but has an asset total that exceeds the asset limit (whether or not the client has a transfer penalty), you will need to continue with the LTCP protection process before approving MA-LTC.

The client may be able to reduce assets to within the asset limit by protecting assets, if the LTC insurance policy is deemed a qualified Partnership policy from which benefits have been paid. 

When the client meets all MA-LTC eligibility criteria but has a transfer penalty, approve MA eligibility and initiate the transfer penalty. The client may choose to continue with the LTCP protection process.

When the client does not meet MA eligibility requirements, such as not providing verification of income then the client cannot continue with the LTCP protection process. A client must meet both MA and MA-LTC requirements in order to evaluate LTCP eligibility.

When the client meets basic MA eligibility requirements but does not meet payment of LTC services requirements, such as cooperating in naming DHS as a preferred remainder beneficiary, approve basic MA eligibility. The client cannot protect assets until payment of LTC services eligibility requirements are met.
