DHS staff uses the information submitted via the HealthQuest to communicate with the LTC insurance company. The LTC insurance company provides DHS with the following information: 

• Whether the policy is considered a qualified Partnership policy.
• Information needed to determine the client’s PAL.

  The Protected Asset Limit (PAL) is the amount of benefits paid out from a qualified Partnership policy since July 1, 2006.

• Confirmation of exhaustion of benefits or benefits remaining to be paid.
