Determining the Begin Date for MA-LTC
Part of the second step of processing an MA-LTC request is to determine the begin date for MA-LTC. The begin date for MA-LTC must be determined so that you begin to apply the basic MA requirements as they apply to MA-LTC and the MA-LTC requirements in the correct months. Follow these general rules when determining the begin date for MA-LTC for the following clients:
- Residents of an LTCF:
The begin date of MA-LTC for a person residing in an LTCF is the date for which the client resided in the LTCF, requested coverage for the month, and meets all eligibility requirements for MA payment of LTC services.
Examples.
- People requesting services through a home and community-based waiver program:
The begin date of MA-LTC for a person requesting services through one of the home and community-based waiver programs is the date on which all of the following is true:
- The case manager determines the need for services and level of care (LOC) requirements are met on the Long Term Care Consultation (LTCC).
- The client requests MA-LTC coverage for that month.
- The client meets all eligibility requirements for MA payment of LTC services.
