Medical Spenddown with LTC Costs

The payment options available to people with a medical spenddown using LTC costs

People whose cost of care is less than their LTC spenddown.

are determined based on each of the spenddown portions.

LTC spenddown portion.
People residing in an LTCF are required to use a designated provider for the LTC spenddown portion. These people are obligated to pay their recipient amount to the LTCF.
People receiving services through EW may choose to use the designated provider if all criteria for the use of the option are met; otherwise potluck processing is the default payment option.

Medical spenddown portion.
The medical portion of a medical spenddown is paid using potluck processing.
