False, an LTCC, not a PAS, documents an institutional level of care for people who are requesting services through the CAC, CADI, BI or Elderly waiver programs. (A full team DD screening is required for the DD waiver.)The LTCC team assesses a person's living situation and health needs to determine her case mix, which in turn determines her need for waiver services.

Question 2.

True, the purpose of the preadmission screening (PAS) is to prevent inappropriate nursing, or certified boarding care facility placements.

Question 3.

False, the client always has the final decision; however, the LTCC team will make recommendations and provide information about community services available to support the client in her home.

Question 4.

True. The person does not need another PAS screening if one was provided for the initial placement in the previous LTCF. The DHS-1503 will indicate that a PAS was completed whether for that facility or the previous facility.

Question 5.

True, the PAS is required. In this situation the PAS may be delayed but it is still required to be completed. Refer the client to the county LTCC team.

Question 6.

False, an institutional level of care as documented via an LTC screening is not a requirement for basic MA, only for MA payment of LTC services. Basic MA eligibility will continue if all eligibility requirements are met. Payment of LTC services will be inhibited.
