HealthQuest Response Activity

Question 1.

Yes, if Catherine protects at least $189,600 of her counted assets for protection, she would be eligible for MA-LTC. She may also reduce assets by following basic MA asset reduction policies.

Question 2.

When a HealthQuest is returned indicating a person has a qualified Partnership policy, follow the HealthQuest Response – Partnership Policy Process by sending Catherine the DHS-5426 (LTCP Brochure) along with a completed DHS-5426C (entering the PAL amount of $190,000 on pages 1 and 2). Request the form be returned within 30 days.

Set a DAIL/WRIT to check for the return of the DHS-5426C and enter a case note of the action taken with a title of ***Protected Assets LTCP***.

Question 3.

The three actions you need to take when the DHS-5426C is returned with the total value of protected assets exceeding the PAL is:

Return the DHS-5426C to Catherine because the total value of the assets protected exceed the PAL by $2,600 along with a DHS-3271 requesting Catherine indicate the asset she is protecting in full within 10 days. Include information about her options.

Set a DAIL/WRIT to check for the return of the updated DHS-5426C.

Enter a case note with a title of ***Protected Assets LTCP***.

Question 4.

When a protected value is changed be sure to make a note on the DHS-5426C with information about the changes. On Catherine’s DHS-5426C indicate that the $150,000 of the cabin property is protected and $40,000 of the savings account is protected. $2,600 of the savings account is a counted asset.

Question 5.

You should have three STAT panels entered or updated as follows:

A STAT/REST panel for the cabin property. This panel should have a HC Count Code of “N.”

One STAT/ACCT panel for the savings account with a balance of $40,000 and a HC count code of “N,”

Another STAT/ACCT panel for the same savings account with a balance of $2,600 and a HC count code of “Y.”

Question 6.

Yes, her counted asset total is now below the MA asset limit. If at this point Catherine still had an asset total in excess of the asset limit, she would be able to reduce assets following basic MA asset reduction policies.

Question 7.

When a policy is determined to be a qualified Partnership policy you must remember to:

Update the MMIS TPL Subsystem with the correct coverage type code.

Set a MAXIS DAIL/WRIT for 60 days prior to the renewal month reminding you to begin the LTCP renewal process.

Enter a case note with a title of ***Protected Assets LTCP*** and details on how assets were protected.
