Introduction to Long-Term Care Facilities and Waivers

What is the CAC Waiver?

Children in hospital.

The Community Alternative Care (CAC) waiver funds home and community-based services for chronically ill or medically fragile children and adults who are eligible for Medical Assistance (MA) and were determined to need a hospital level of care.

The CAC waiver program is administered by the DHS Disability Services Division. A person may request CAC waiver funding through their county social services, public health department, managed care plan, or through some tribal health and human services agencies.
