Information about the client moving from one facility to another, or moving to a facility from the community is used to help determine when to start or stop applying MA-LTC eligibility rules, the type of income calculation to use and when that calculation should change.

This information is also used to determine the county of financial responsibility.

Determine if it is an SNF, ICF/DD or other type of facility. Knowing the facility type will help you to determine if the facility is an LTCF.

Whether an LTCF is a Medicaid-certified facility helps to determine the type of income calculation to use. Eligibility for people residing in non-Medicaid-certified facilities is determined as if they were community residents, even though they are residing in an LTCF.

The length of time a person is expected to reside in an LTCF helps to determine the type of income calculation a client uses when determining eligibility for MA-LTC.
