Income and MA-LTC

Income eligibility is one requirement for many of Minnesota’s Health Care Programs. For people requesting MA payment of LTC, income is used to determine the client’s obligation toward their cost of care. To determine an MA-LTC client’s obligation, different income calculations are used based on a variety of criteria. The client obligation may be in the form of a spenddown, a waiver obligation or, in the case of the MA for Employed Persons with Disabilities (MA-EPD), a premium.
