Section Overview
This section provides instruction on when to change a community income calculation to an LTC income calculation and vice versa. As you learned previously, the following people will use an LTC income calculation:
- Expected to reside in an LTCF and meet the level of care requirement.
- SIS-EW clients.
- Receiving services through the Elderly Waiver, who have income greater than the SIS, and who have a community spouse.
A certification period is not interrupted to change an income calculation from one type to another. However, there are rules as to when to begin and end using the LTC income calculation. The rules for beginning and ending an LTC income calculation are based on whether or not the LTC client has a community spouse and when receipt of LTC services begin or end.
