Court-Ordered Child Support Deduction

The court-ordered child support deduction is allowed when court-ordered child support payments are garnished from the client’s income.  The garnished child support can be for arrearages or current support.

Deduct the actual amount of court-ordered child support being garnished up to a maximum of $250 per month, regardless of the number of children to whom child support is being paid.

Exception:

The combined family allocation and child support deduction cannot exceed $250 per month. Reduce the amount of this deduction by the amount of the family allocation.

Reminder icon.Remember! The deduction must be updated for the month in which it is no longer allowed, or when the client has a change in circumstance.

Example:

Can you use this deduction on Emily’s or Andreas’ LTC income calculation?
