Waiver Services Ending

The Community Income Calculation Changes When Waiver Services Begin or End (PDF) handout also provides an overview of when to change an MA Method B income calculation to an MA Method A income calculation.

Change the income calculation when continuing to use the MA Method ABD income calculation is not appropriate. Begin using the MA Method FCA income calculation beginning the month following the month the waiver services are last received, or as soon as a 10-day notice can be provided if the spenddown amount is increased for the following people:

EW (non-SIS-EW) client without a community spouse.
Disability waiver clients.

Example:

Calliope’s services through the CAC waiver are ending on February 10. She will continue to be MA eligible. She lives with her 16-year-old daughter. By changing her income calculation her monthly spenddown will increase.

Action:

Change Calliope’s income calculation in February for March from MA Method ABD to MA Method FCA because 10-day notice can be given.
