Who Can Receive a Family Allocation?
The first thing you must determine when looking at the family allocation is whether any family members, besides the community spouse, are eligible for a family allocation. People who may receive a family allocation are:
- The LTC client’s children who are under age 18 and who do not live with the community spouse.
- Family members listed below who live with the community spouse and have one of the following relationships to the LTC or community spouse:
- Child under age 21.
- Child age 21 or older who are claimed as dependents for tax purposes.
- Parents who are claimed as dependents for tax purposes.
- Siblings who are claimed as dependents for tax purposes.
