Calculation 1 - Child Under Age 18 Not Living with Community Spouse

First let’s discuss the calculation to use for the LTC client‘s child who is under age 18 and who is not living with the community spouse. Verification of the child’s income is required before an allocation can be used.

Step 1: Determine total gross monthly income of all children under age 18 not living with the community spouse.

Step 2: Determine the 100% FPG standard amount.

Determine the income standard for a household size equal to the number of children under age 18 not living with the community spouse, even if the children are living separately from each other. FPG standards can be found in the Eligibility Policy Manual.

Step 3: Determining the family allocation amount.

Subtract the total monthly income (step 1) from the income standard (step 2). The result of this calculation results in the family allocation amount that is deducted on the LTC income calculation. No allocation is allowed if the result is less than or equal to $0.

Example:

Unlike with the community spouse allocation, MAXIS does not calculate this allocation. You must manually enter only the family allocation amount.
